This Company is dishonest and very shady. Back in 2004 I had closed my Sears credit card. It was a write off. When I closed the card I still owed $2514. Brachfeld and Associates bought my old debt that was written off and began to harass me for payment for the amount that was owed to Sears. They sent me court papers in the mail and said I had been served papers stating that I owed them the full amount I owed Sears.The court papers looked Bogus to me, but I was not sure. They went under the company LVNV and preceded to collect money from me monthly without sending me any kind of statement to show I had been making payments. It is a good thing that I keep receipts of everything and keep every bank statement as well. I still have money order receipts saved from 1995. I opened up an account so I would not give this company any of my regular bank information because although I was making payments to them, I still did not trust them. I started paying them in October of 2008 with a grand total of $2,669.75. I asked Brachfeld and Associates how much longer would I be making payments to them and they state it would be 19 more months at $150 a month and if I did not pay them they would garnish my wages. I have my credit report that shows the total I owed Sears and the Bogus Court papers stated that I owe them $2514 and interest at 10%. You guys do the math. I think I owe them only $65-$70 more and that should be it. They call me at work and threaten me and I have asked them to call me on my cell phone or contact me by U.S. Mail. I am done paying them and I would rather pay an attorney to help me get these guys off of my back then see this company get one more dime. If you do not believe me about this Company you can put their name in on the web and there are alot of complaints regarding this Company. They claim to be an attorney's office and you can hear collectors in the back ground. These guys are bottom feeders. If you have to deal with them, please don't give them one dime. It will be easier and cheaper to get an attorney and counter sue and you can add by suing for damages and missing work while you are at it. Take it from me......They are dishonest.
