Gateway was bought by Acer, which also has similar problems with manufacturing and customer service. I've purchased a monitor from them and unfortunately I hadn't read the reviews. Nearly everyone who has purchased that monitor has had it die because of a defective circuit board and Altera BGA chip. Since the problems appear after the 1 year warranty, they tell you "not our problem" even though they're the ones who created a lemon product that was shipped defective. What they're doing is false advertisement and against the law.
Avoid Gateway and Acer like the plague - it's cheap crap compared to most other brands.
Just check out their BBB rating... "C-".
Or Google XHD3000 2010 - a couple of years after it's debut and that monitor's search results are nothing but complaints. The only good reviews are from people who had done their writeup within a couple of months of purchase.
Or go to http://www.amazon.com/Gateway-XHD3000-display-widescreen-speakers/dp/B000XIHCHI and look at the Amazon reviews where a Gateway monitor gets 1.5 out of 5 stars because a year after purchase they almost always die.
Or read the reviews here at trustlink.org where gateway scores 1/5 stars - it's not coincidence that they all say the same thing!
