This company (AccountNow) sent me a debit card asking me to call in for activation. Upon contact with a representative from their company, they asked me my name and birthdate, which I refused to give my birthdate. She then asked for my zip code. After asking the rep how she obtained my information, she said, "You requested our card online." I told her I never requested a Visa card online from their company, and she stated "Oh, I can cancel it for you." I told her to cancel it because I did not know if this was some kid of identity theft.
Bottom Line: Deceptive marketing to solicite business from consumers.
Lesson: Ask before you sign up for anything. Be careful about providing personal information.
